The latest actress to venture into the action genre is the always reliable Mary Elizabeth Winstead. The Traveler scott vs the world The actress plays a highly skilled assassin who is betrayed and seeks revenge in the Netflix thriller Kate.

Meticulous and extraordinarily skilled, Kate is the perfect model of a refined assassin at the top of her game. But when she goes on an unusual mission targeting a yakuza member in Tokyo, she quickly discovers she has been poisoned, a brutally slow execution that leaves her with less than 24 now to exact revenge on those who killed him. As her body rapidly deteriorates, Kate forms an unlikely bond with the teenage daughter of one of her previous victims. Starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Woody Harrelson, and directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, Kate follows a burned assassin’s frantic pursuit of his final self-appointed job.
Any movie involving an assassin seeking revenge gets me interested from the start, but when you add Yakuza, Woody Harrelson, a teenage sidekick, and lots of extreme violence, You’ve pretty much ticked all the right boxes.
Along with the wonderfully choreographed fight scenes, director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan (Hunter: Winter’s War) seems to have captured the neon lights of Tokyo’s underworld.
Joining Winstead and Harrelson is a cast that includes Tadanobu Asano, Miyavi, Michiel Huisman, Miku Martineau and Jun Kunimura.
Kate will hit select theaters and Netflix on September 10.
