With just a few days left until the season debut, here’s everything you need to know about Haven Madison from American Idol season 21, episode one.
Haven Madison, the 21st season of American Idol, is the daughter of Jason Roy, the lead singer of Building 429.
Haven Madison is a teenager from Clarksville, Tennessee. She was voted US Platinum Ticket at the prestigious American Music Awards at a young age. Haven is, by the way, the daughter of Jason Roy of the Grammy-nominated contemporary Christian band Building 429.
Haven grew up in a tour van, according to her Spotify profile. Her father, who traveled often, brought her family with him, so she was homeschooled until a certain age. Haven discovered her love for music while she was on tour with her father. She has previously released some of her own songs, such as her EP All the Things I Did n’t Say, which has a duet with her own brother. Haven spoke in an exclusive interview with Clarksville Now about her first performance and how her father encouraged her to do it:
“’Come out and sing with him!’ she urged. Absolutely not, I said. ‘I’ll give you $20 if you come out!’ he offered. And she did it! ‘I’ll give you $40 if you come out and sing like you’re already here,’ he added.”
She recounted her most memorable performance when she opened Hill Fest:
“’Haven Madison: Opening,’ it said. It was surreal to see my name on the shirts; Someone asked me to sign everything and wanted pictures with me. ‘What is this world?’ She asked me. And that was my first moment when I thought: Here is my brand.”
She revealed the following about her American Idol audition:
“I came in thinking, ‘Dude, I’m probably going to come up here and play my song. Thank you for coming, now come out.’ “I was still sure this was a hoax until I stood in front of the three judges.”
