Survivor season 44 will premiere this week and will take contestants to the Fiji Islands for 26 days to compete for the title of “Solo Survivor.” Josh Wilder, a Cincy doctor born with prune belly syndrome, is one of the candidates scheduled to appear on the show. The future survivor received a life-saving transfusion, which motivated him to become a foot doctor, according to Parade. Survivor season 44 will debut on CBS on March 1 at 8 pm ET.

Josh Wilder is one of 18 castaways competing for a monetary reward of one million dollars and the title of “Sole Survivor.” The 34-year-old Surgical Podiatrist from Atlanta, Georgia, wants to participate in the show to test his daring side. In a conversation with Parade, he talked about his performance in the upcoming season and talked about having a genetic disability as a child. He also claimed that his organs were not fully effective due to an intestinal condition and shared:
“Kristen Reagle, a cadaveric transplant donor, donated a kidney to me when I was nine years old. A drunk motorist killed her when she was 15; It was as if her existence had never begun.”
The Survivor season 44 competitor stated that her donor was an active person who enjoyed being outdoors, so she is doing this for both her and her own family. Josh started watching the show when it first aired in May 2000 and watched it with his family every Thursday. He mentioned that he has watched almost every season of the CBS show, with the exception of a few that he had to skip due to medical school and college. He connects with a victor, Jeremy, and a non-winner, Davie, because Davie was a wonderful social actor and performed admirably during the tasks.
In an interview, the cast member of the survival show’s upcoming season stated that he wants to be seen as active while on the show, as well as someone who provides for his comrades. To get to the finish line, Josh wants to be more social and accepting of his fellow competitors, but once there, he “takes the gloves off.” He went on to say:
“I’m going to backstab, cheat and do whatever I have to do to get there. But first of all, I’m going to play a very sociable game, be active and be a giver. And then, God willing, once we combine, I will do what I have to do. All bets are off.”
The Survivor season 44 competitor stated that he will not let his feelings get the best of him and will not allow others to play with his emotions. Josh stated that he’s seen it before on the show, with people playing with feelings and pulling on them to use on each other, and plans to prevent it from happening to him.
Additionally, the candidate believes he should keep his eye on the reward and not let other people get on his nerves, like Jonathan did with Maryanne. The debut of Survivor season 44 will air on CBS on Wednesday, March 1 at 8 pm ET.
