Netflix’s newest series, Zombieverse, puts its cast members into the confines of a bloodthirsty zombie apocalypse to see who can survive. A South Korean series, the show tricks its famous contestants initially, inviting them to a fake premiere. The cast is lulled into a false sense of security watching the series before they find themselves thrust into a full-on zombie apocalypse, with people from the set devouring others, and eventually, coming after the cast themselves.
The contestants must decide how to best escape the faux-zombies, making the decision to work together or separate. While some may look to form groups, others may feel that the solo-approach is best to defeating the undead competition. For those participating in Zombieverse, it appears that the danger feels imminent as they make their way through the brain-starved obstacles. While the cast may not be well-known globally, they are highly known in South Korea, and all seem like interesting options for Zombieverse season 1.
Lee Si-young
An actress and former amateur boxer, Lee Si-young is well known in the South Korean industry for her role in the reality TV series We Got Married. The show, which revolved around fake married couples, jettisoned her to stardom along with her hosting gig on Entertainment Relay that lasted for 2 years. Most recently, Lee starred in another apocalyptic Netflix series, Sweet Home in 2020. It’s possible Lee’s experience dealing with faux-horror will help her on Zombieverse.
Noh Hong-chul
Noh Hong-chul is best known for his appearance on the tremendously popular South Korean variety show Talents For Sale, where celebrities present their talents as though they’re on a shopping network. An entertainer, Noh has appeared on several other reality TV series, and is most notably known for his cameo in PSY’s music video for his huge hit, “Gangnam Style”. Though Noh may not be widely-known to the global public, he’s become a hit with some US studios. His personable nature may put him at an advantage when dealing with his fellow Zombieverse contestants.
Park Na-rae
Park Na-rae is a popular South Korean comedian who’s become well-known for headlining her own Netflix comedy special. After making appearances on several South Korean reality TV shows like Squid Game: The Challenge, she’s toured with her comedy globally as well. Park participated in the Netflix Is A Joke fest of 2020, and may be able to use her comedic stylings on Zombieverse to appeal to others.
DinDin (Lim Cheol)
DinDin, who is also known as Lim Cheol, is a TV personality and rapper who has appeared on several South Korean shows. Participating in Show Me The Money 2 in 2013, DinDin became popular for his rap styling and has released an album called “Goodbye My Twenties” along with several singles through they ears. After participating as a judge on some South Korean talent shows, DinDin is trying his own hand at competition with Zombieverse season 1.
Tsuki
Fukutomi Tsuki, also known as Tsuki, is best known for being a member of the K-pop group, Billlie. Prior to her time with Billlie, Tsuki was a member of MAGICOUR, another girl group. As a performer, Tsuki is a triple threat and has worked as an emcee alongside sharing her talents with her own group. Tsuki may be able to prove herself as a competitor on Zombieverse season 1.
Jonathan and Patricia Yiombi
A pair of siblings who are originally from Congo, Jonathan Yiombi and his sister Patricia Yiombi moved to Korea at a young age and have gone on to become two of the most famous Congolese celebrities in the world. A YouTube sensation, Jonathan moved over to the TV world with the show Screening Humanity, along with other reality TV appearances. Patricia was always a huge part of Jonathan’s YouTube videos and ultimately found her own fame on reality TV as well. Their connection could keep them close or tear them apart on Zombieverse season 1.
Yoo Hee-kwan
A player for the Doosan Bears, Yoo Hee-kwan joined the team in 2009 and has played professional baseball ever since. While he’s not as tall as some other pitchers, like Physical 100‘s Dustin Nippert, he shows extreme control of his craft. Yoo has appeared on other reality TV series, like Strongest Baseball, in the past and will likely find himself capable on Zombieverse season 1.
DEX (Kim Jin-young)
DEX, also known as Kim Jin-young, is a major Korean Reality TV star. Best known for his time on the popular series Singles Inferno season 2, he didn’t find love during his time on the Korean deserted island. Though DEX is expected to return for Singles Inferno season 3, he’ll first have to face the wrath of the Zombieverse.
Kwachu-hyung / Hong Seong-woo
Kwachu-hyung, better known as Hong Seong-woo, is a YouTuber who’s become famous over the years for his urology content on the platform. As Dr Jomulju, Kwachu has provided hours upon hours of content of sex education for the public and amassed over 200,000 subscribers over the years. Though Kwachu is best known for his YouTube videos, he may be able to put his knowledge to great use when it comes to Zombieverse season 1.
