JoJo Siwa is causing controversy online thanks to her bold new look. It was a drastic change from her usual glitter and rainbow beauty look, with the star instead opting for Kiss-style face paint and dark gothic outfits.

She’s entering a new era, one that she claims is “not for kids” — but that’s not the only thing causing some backlash from viewers.

In April 2024, Siwa performed one of her new songs at a live event. Titled ‘Choose Your Warrior’, Siwa claims the song is about one of her exes and features a special ad-lib in which she says ‘you’re welcome’ after the line: “Some of my exes are nobody/some of my exes have reputations.”

However, it didn’t take long for eagle-eyed netizens to realize that Siwa’s ‘new’ song is extremely similar to a track by TikToker and music artist Emeline, who uploaded the same track with the same name. TikTok October 2022 .

Commenters raced to inform Emiline that her song had been effectively stolen by JoJo – something the singer addressed in a comment below the original video.

“I really didn’t agree to debut with JoJo (not her fault),” she wrote. “If my version is popular, I can still release it after hers. Thanks for the support.”

Emiline also promised to post a “story” explaining the entire incident, which is making Siwa’s critics extremely angry on social networks.

Others are speculating that Emiline may have sold her song to Siwa and that the YouTuber may not have recorded her own vocals over the demo version of the song.
