A former Sephora manager has gone viral on TikTok after explaining how the beauty store can ban customers from returning makeup products.

Former Sephora manager and TikToker Jennie Pham (greeneggsandglam) used her platform to reveal how you can be banned from returning makeup to the beauty store.

“Yes, you can be banned from returns at Sephora,” Jennie said in her video, which has gone viral with more than 2.4 million views. “It’s not as simple as purchase and return rates. That really doesn’t matter. What matters is how much you return.

“If you returned more than $2,500 in products in the past calendar year, you will be banned,” she explains. According to Jennie, once that threshold is crossed and a customer tries to return another product, the store’s system will refuse the return.

Customers will then receive a ticket instructing them to contact customer service for more information. “When you call that number, they say, ‘Girl, you’re done,’” Jennie said.

Luckily, there is a simple workaround. The TikToker suggested creating another Sephora account with a different email address and phone number to continue purchasing and returning products.

“Just be careful with how much money you put back, because getting banned would be a bit embarrassing,” she concluded in her clip. Many TikTok users in the comments section were relieved about the $2,500 limit.

One person wrote: “This is so comforting because I have never even spent that amount of money on it in my entire life.” “2500 isn’t a lot considering each item costs at least $100,” another added.

Others were surprised that makeup products could be returned. “Returning used personal items is crazy. In Europe, they will laugh at you,” said one user.

“I’m British and to be honest I was surprised to learn that you can return makeup. Once opened, we cannot return it unless it is defective,” another person shared.
