Fast food prices in California skyrocketed after worker wages increased by $4 in April.

Starting April 1, fast-food workers in California got a significant raise after the legislature realized restaurant workers aren’t just teenagers looking for extra cash. but also adults who have families to support.

The minimum wage increased by 4 USD, from 16 USD to 20 USD. However, not all chains are raising wages because the new law only applies to restaurants with limited or no table service. The chain must also have at least 60 stores nationwide.

After workers’ wages increased, the New York Post examined many menus of fast-food restaurants in Los Angeles to see if their prices had increased.

Notably, Ivan Moreno, a Burger King customer, told NYP that he believes the price increase is unreasonable.

“Honestly, I don’t like that, because then everything else adds up. These people have to make a living one way or another, but then [the restaurants] must increase prices,” Ivan said.

It is worth noting that other famous fast food restaurants such as McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Chick-fil-A have not increased their menu prices at this time. However, there are still opportunities as salaries have increased significantly.
